Today a client of mine said that one of the unexpected values of her experience in my coaching program was that she felt heard. She said she didn’t realize how much she needed to be really listened to by someone who would not interrupt, judge her, jump in and finish her sentences or be fiddling with their phone while she spoke of meaningful, heartfelt parts of her life.
It is getting harder and harder to have the undivided attention of someone, to feel really heard. Listening skills, which were never very strong for many people if the first place, seem to have taken a nosedive in this digital age with so many seductions and distractions.
What is the value to you to be really listened to, really heart, really gotten, really understood, really appreciated?
