Here we are on the eve of a new beginning—for many it means coming back from vacation, going back to school. But even if you aren’t in school, it still feels like an opportunity to begin anew as the season shifts from the carefree energy of summer to the fresh start energy of autumn.
As an empty nester, I am now able to devote more time to my business, shifting from a coach-centric to more of speaking-centric one. I found a great speaking business coach to keep me on task and moving forward. I am also devoting more time to writing and playing music, which feeds my soul.
What it is you would like to create for yourself this season that feeds your soul? A new creative project? A new daily routine that includes physical exercise? More time to observe nature’s changes? More time to reconnect with friends? What kind of support and resources do you need to be successful with your changes?
Making the choice to start anew is a promise we make to ourselves. The forward momentum creates a sort of vacuum behind it, pulling us toward all we need to continue moving in our chosen direction. Once the journey has begun, it may take unexpected turns, but it never really ends.
“The chief beauty about time is that you cannot waste it in advance.
The next year, the next day, the next hour are lying ready for you, as perfect, as unspoiled,
as if you had never wasted or misapplied a single moment in all your life.
You can turn over a new leaf every hour if you choose.”
Arnold Bennett
Like cycles in nature, there are periods of obvious growth and periods of dormancy that signal a time of waiting for the right moment to burst forth. Each time we choose to start anew we dedicate ourselves to becoming the best we can be.
This is your life. You are not your history, your thoughts or the experiences of your life. You are life itself. And you can shape your time on this earth in the way you choose. So choose now to shape it how you so desire.
Dear Diane
I always enjoy reading your monthly e-mails-they are very inspiring and insightful.
Being an occupational therapist, I am always setting and working on goals for my clients and have more recently decided to do the same for myself. My daily prayer to the universe is to be healthy in body, mind and spirit. I liked your suggestions in today’s e-mail about the kind of activities each of us can do to forward our own lives.
Have a great evening – Roberta
