Ask and ye shall receive; this has been a month of manifestation for me! It came about from others offering me unexpected opportunity and support – from the student activities coordinator at the community college finding me online and hiring me at a professional fee to do what I love to do – share with young people my enthusiasm and belief that anything is possible; to my friend Michael inviting me to sing harmony at a fundraiser, with more gigs to come; to my friend Joan urging me to create my own TV show. In each case people came out of the woodwork to willingly and enthusiastically provide support and encouragement.
I taped my first two television shows yesterday. They will be showing on public access channel 8 locally, in other markets, and on my website soon. The crew was totally volunteer—helping me produce the show out of the goodness of their hearts and their passion for their work.
We all have skillful passions that when shared benefit others greatly. We often underestimate the value of these skills because they are second nature to us. Listening to others praise us for who we are helps us identify those gifts we take for granted that help others in much appreciated ways.
If you don’t know what your unique contribution is, you can ask those close to you. It requires some courage, but email makes it easier. You can simply ask your family and friends what they see as your gifts. When my clients do this, they are often surprised by what they hear—taking for granted their most precious gifts because those gifts are imbedded in who they are.
When we know what our gifts are, we can design our lives so that we are giving over and over again. With passion and compassion in balance, we get to express our passion- filled gifts and compassionately share them with others.
I talk about this a lot, but I will continue until you know how special each and everyone of you are. My dream is of a world in which the balance of passion-compassion is expressed all over the world—what a wonderful world this could be!
I will be talking about this often on The Diane Ingram Show. And by the way, if you have any inclination to share your gifts on TV, contact your local public access cable company. It’s free and fun—the best deal in town!
Locally, Comcast is having an Open House on Thursday, October 27th from 4-8 where you can visit the studio and get inspired like I did. Call Jennifer Hanaburgh, Public Access Coordinator at 845-704-1571×73937 for more information.
Step out into the world with your gifts and discover all of the enthusiastic support and encouragement just waiting for you to bring your best gifts to the world. I’m rooting for you!
